Encoding Lossless to Lossy with Foobar2000

ingredients:

foobar2000 (duh!) »
optional components (required to be able to play lossless files, duh!) »
lame encoder (encodes to mp3) »
winrar or other similar archive extracting utility. »
common sense »

step 1: place your hand on your mouse/mice/touchpad/fun bags.
step 2: move your mouse cursor to the internet explorer icon. double-click it.
(FYI: double-click means press the mouse with your index finger twice at a moderately fast speed.)
step 3: internet explorer (or whatever u use for surfing the net) should appear onscreen.

if u made it this far, congratulations!.
if you are still stuck, go back to step 1.

now, point your browser to the address bar;
(FYI: “An address bar (also location bar or URL bar) is a widget in a graphical user interface web browser that indicates the current or desired URL, …” -wikipedia)
type: http://www.foobar2000.org and hit enter. at this point of time, you might —aww you know what, FUCK YOU.

ok, download the stuff in the ingredients list. u need to install foobar2000 first (duh).
now extract the contents of the lame encoder’s archive to foobar2000’s installation directory. (u may choose to extract it elsewhere but does it not simplify things if u just do as u say you asshole?)
it should look something like this:

now fire up foobar, load your files you want to encode…
right-click on the file ( right-click a batch to batch encode) and click convert>convert to
should look something like this:

well now u click on the convert to button… select mp3 and it should ask you where lame.exe is. now navigate to foobar’s installation directory and look for lame.exe. rmmbr earlier i asked your to extract the contents of lame encoder’s archive? yea, having extracted, lame.exe should be somewhere in there.

by default, it is going to encode in VBR mode at 190kbps. if you dont know what i mean, just leave it. the current settings are good enough… well at least i think so. n00b.

rmmbr to save your output file as <something>.mp3. hit ok and wait.

thats pretty much it. did u enjoy reading this tutorial? do u need a video runthrough?
if you need more help, just ask. i’ll try my best to help you. i like emails.

oh and btw, the input:
